Abita Root Beer Glazed Ham

6-10 pounds cooked ham

3 bottles Abita root beer (other good quality root beer can be substituted)

1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar

3/4 cup creole mustard

1/2 cup orange juice

2 tablespoons Beazell's Cajun Seasoning

Optional: pineapple rings and maraschino cherry, for decoration

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine all ingredients except the ham in a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring periodically. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until the glaze is reduced by half.

Put the ham in an oven proof baking dish or Dutch oven.  Season the ham with additional Beazell’s Cajun Seasoning.  Pour half of the root beer glaze over the ham and reserve the rest of the glaze.  Bake in the oven uncovered for 1 hour basting periodically.  Remove the ham from the oven, pour the remaining glaze over it and decorate with pineapple rings and Maraschino cherries secured in place with toothpicks.  Return the ham to the oven and bake for an additional 20 to 30 minutes.
